Last Friday I went on a blind date that one of my roommates set me up on. It was a lot of fun, and the guy was really cute! We had tons in common and had a fun time sledding and playing games. He did a follow up text on Saturday and we decided we'd hang out Sunday night. Well, he came over Sunday night and within five minutes, I realized that even though he was really good looking, he had some weird quirks and was kind of annoying. I was being very clear with my body language and comments that I was not interested. He didn't catch on. He ended up staying until curfew and then I shooed him out the door. My roommates and neighbors were dying of laughter because they could all tell he was way more interested than I was. I didn't hear from him all week so I thought I was in the clear, but then on Friday he texted me asking me out Saturday night. After advice from roommates and family I texted him back and said, "Hey, sorry but I don't want to lead you on so I'm going to have to pass. I didn't think it was mean, but some people I work with thought it was a little harsh. He texted me back about an hour later and actually thanked me for being honest with him! So... I am glad that I told him the truth, and I'm glad I didn't have to go out with him Saturday night. (Today I found out that his sister is in my Relief Society, and is on my Enrichment Committee that I am over! haha...)
But anyway... that's a little bit of the excitement that has been going on in my life!
This weekend my roommate Elizabeth and I are going down to Provo.
This is the name of the basketball team I am on. Yes, I am on a basketball team.
This probably comes as a surprise to many. It's a surprise to me too!
The other day I got a text asking if I would play on a co-ed basketball team. My initial response was NO, but then some how I ended up getting registered on it and I just got an e-mail confirming that I am on the "Lebron With The Wind" team. I have not played basketball since like 8th grade, and I definitely don't think I'll be a key player (especially considering my height, lack of skill, and the fact that I'll be playing against boys), but maybe it will be fun. I am looking at it as a "good experience" so hopefully that's what it will be!
{This Is For Mykelle}
Last night I signed up to play on our ward volleyball team. I wouldn't normally do this, but I thought of Mykelle and decided that I should just give it a go! I've convinced a few other girls to sign up on it too, so it should be fun.
OTHER STUFF
I have been so busy trying to balance school and work, but for some reason this week I decided to add to it all and get a lot more involved in the "social scene". Besides joining the two teams, I also interviewed to be the manager of the Battle of the Dance competition/event on campus. If I don't manage the show I'll just be on the committee for it. I also have been trying to get to know my roommates and the girls in my building better. I got 4 girls to go to a hip-hop class with me last night, and then I talked to 2 of my roommates until 2:30 in the morning! Needless to say, I was glad I didn't have class til 9:00 this morning instead of 7:45.
CUTE BOY UPDATE
The thing with cute boy from my group didn't work out so well. We didn't have time to meet with our groups, and then the teacher completely redid them because of an error he had made and we are no longer in the same group. Oh well! This morning while I was walking to class there was this guy walking by me for a few minutes but I couldn't tell if he was cute or not. Then he said, "So have you ever been walking by someone for like 10 minutes and never say a word to each other?" It was a great ice breaker! We both started laughing and then talked. He was VERY cute. We ended up having class in the same building but as soon as we walked in the doors he had to go downstairs and I was upstairs. The split up just automatically happened really fast and we said bye. Then when I got to class and sat down I about kicked myself for not exchanging numbers! He would've been way fun to hang out with! Maybe we'll walk next to each other again sometime!
Here are a few pictures of little Nikki at 3 weeks old. Brandon and Tannya have more on their blog. These are two of my favorites! She is too cute!
I now live with 5 other girls, go to school every morning, work every afternoon, do homework like crazy, read like crazy, and try to survive on string cheese, yogurt, and apples.
It seriously feels like I am in a whirlwind with everything going on, but it is so much fun!
I am really enjoying my classes, I have good roommates, the most hilarious girls are in my building, and I don't think there's a better ward for me then the one I'm in.
I think it's going to be a good semester. Insanely busy, but good!
Can I just throw in how happy it makes me when I get to see this little girl!
I also want to give a little happy birthday shout out to my Dad!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PADRE!!
{Last night he called me to see how my first week went. I was so glad he called and I had a lot of fun talking to him. He is such a great Dad!}
I received my Associates of Science Degree from Dixie State in December 2008, and my Phlebotomy Certificate in March 2009. I moved to Rexburg, ID in July of '09 to work on my Bachelors Degree at BYU-Idaho. I am majoring in Exercise Physiology. I am working as a Legal Assistant and loving it. Here's a little look at what's going on in my life...
